This Lifetime 50% Exchange Policy explains the eligibility conditions, calculation method and procedure applicable to selected products purchased from Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics through https://bombayjewelleryhp.in.
The Programme applies only where the product page or original legal invoice expressly states “Lifetime 50% Exchange.”
1. Nature of the Programme
The Lifetime 50% Exchange Programme is an additional commercial benefit available on selected eligible jewellery.
It is not:
- A product warranty;
- A return or refund policy;
- A cash buyback;
- A precious-metal valuation;
- An investment scheme;
- A promise of appreciation;
- A resale guarantee; or
- A representation that the product contains recoverable gold.
The Programme allows an eligible old product to be returned and its approved exchange value applied toward a new eligible purchase from the same product category.
2. Eligible Products
A product qualifies only when “Lifetime 50% Exchange” is expressly mentioned on:
- Its product page;
- Its original legal invoice; or
- Another official written document issued by Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics.
A product does not become eligible merely because:
- A similar product carries the benefit;
- Another product from the same collection is eligible;
- A general advertisement mentions the Programme; or
- The customer previously purchased another eligible product.
Where eligibility is unclear, we will verify the product and invoice against our business records.
3. Eligible Purchases
The Programme applies only to eligible products purchased directly from:
- https://bombayjewelleryhp.in;
- Our physical store; or
- Another Bombay Jewellery sales channel where the benefit is expressly recorded on the legal invoice.
Products purchased from an unauthorized reseller or another business do not qualify.
4. Invoice Requirement
The customer must provide:
- The original legal invoice; or
- A clear, readable photograph or digital copy of the original invoice.
The invoice must allow verification of:
- Invoice number;
- Purchase date;
- Product identity;
- Product category;
- Original product value;
- Taxable value;
- GST;
- Exchange eligibility; and
- Previous use of the benefit.
A payment screenshot, bank statement, courier label or order message may assist verification but does not automatically replace the invoice.
An altered, fabricated or unreadable invoice may be rejected.
5. Exchange-Value Calculation
The exchange value equals 50% of the original invoiced taxable product value after excluding GST.
The calculation excludes:
- GST;
- COD charges;
- Shipping charges;
- Gift-wrapping charges;
- Customization charges;
- Convenience fees; and
- Other service charges.
Formula
Taxable product value = GST-inclusive product price ÷ (1 + applicable GST rate)
Exchange value = Taxable product value × 50%
The applicable GST rate and taxable value shown on the original invoice will govern the calculation.
6. Calculation Example
If an eligible product was invoiced at ₹1,030 including 3% GST:
- GST-exclusive taxable value: ₹1,030 ÷ 1.03 = ₹1,000
- Exchange value: 50% of ₹1,000 = ₹500
Therefore, the eligible exchange adjustment would be ₹500, subject to product inspection and all other conditions.
This example is illustrative. The actual calculation will be based on the original invoice.
7. Discounted Purchases
If the eligible product was purchased during a sale or with a discount, the exchange value will be calculated from the actual taxable product value paid and recorded on the invoice.
It will not be calculated from:
- MRP;
- Undiscounted price;
- Current product price;
- Replacement cost;
- Market value; or
- Another reference price.
8. No Cash Refund
The approved exchange value may be used only as an adjustment against an eligible new purchase.
It cannot be:
- Paid in cash;
- Refunded to a bank account;
- Refunded to UPI or a card;
- Converted into cash;
- Transferred independently to another person;
- Exchanged for store credit;
- Used against an earlier purchase; or
- Carried forward for later use.
The Programme does not create a cash debt payable by Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics.
9. Same-Category Requirement
The customer must purchase the new product from the same category as the old product.
Examples include:
- Bangle or kada exchanged for another bangle or kada;
- Necklace exchanged for another necklace;
- Mangalsutra exchanged for another mangalsutra;
- Earring exchanged for another earring; or
- Pahadi jewellery exchanged for another product classified as Pahadi jewellery.
Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics will determine the applicable category according to the original invoice and product catalogue.
An exchange into a different category is permitted only where we expressly approve it in writing.
10. Minimum New-Purchase Value
The new product’s price must be at least equal to the approved exchange value.
If the new product costs more, the customer must pay:
- The remaining price;
- Applicable GST;
- Transportation charges; and
- Other clearly disclosed charges.
If the new product costs less than the exchange value:
- No cash balance will be paid;
- No remaining credit will be issued;
- No balance will be carried forward; and
- The unused exchange amount will lapse.
The customer should therefore select a new product valued at or above the approved exchange amount.
11. Physical Return Requirement
The old product must be physically returned to Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics.
Photographs and videos may be used for preliminary review, but they do not complete the exchange.
Final approval will be given only after:
- Physical receipt;
- Product identification;
- Invoice verification;
- Condition inspection; and
- Confirmation that the benefit has not already been used.
A value quoted before physical inspection is provisional.
12. Product Inspection
During inspection, we may verify:
- Product authenticity;
- Product identity;
- Product category;
- Principal parts;
- Present condition;
- Missing components;
- Alteration or substitution;
- Invoice details;
- Original taxable value; and
- Previous exchange history.
The inspection will be conducted reasonably and in good faith.
13. Acceptable Product Condition
Reasonable wear, fading or tarnishing resulting from normal use will not automatically make an eligible product ineligible.
However, the product must remain identifiable and contain its principal components.
The full calculated exchange value may be considered where:
- The product is authentic;
- All principal components are present;
- There is no deliberate damage;
- There is no substitution or tampering; and
- All other Programme conditions are satisfied.
14. Reduced or Cancelled Exchange Value
The exchange value may be reduced or cancelled where the product has:
- Missing principal components;
- Missing stones, beads or decorative elements;
- Severe breakage;
- Deliberate damage;
- Substituted components;
- Unauthorized modification;
- Material alteration;
- Signs of tampering;
- Counterfeit parts; or
- Damage preventing identification.
Any reduction or rejection will be explained to the customer after inspection.
15. Sets and Multi-Piece Products
Where the eligible product was sold as a set, all principal pieces must ordinarily be returned.
A set may include:
- Necklace;
- Earrings;
- Pendant;
- Maang tikka;
- Bangles;
- Beads;
- Chains; or
- Other listed components.
Missing pieces may reduce or cancel the exchange value.
The original invoice and product description will determine whether the jewellery was sold as a complete set or as separate products.
16. One-Time Use
The Lifetime 50% Exchange benefit may be used only once for each eligible product or invoice line item.
Once the old product is accepted and its value is applied:
- The old product becomes the property of Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics;
- The old product will not be returned;
- The original benefit will be considered used; and
- No further claim may be made for that product.
17. Eligibility of the New Product
The newly purchased product will carry its own Lifetime 50% Exchange benefit only where the new product page or new invoice expressly states that it is eligible.
Eligibility does not automatically transfer from the old product to the new product.
18. Transportation Costs
The customer must pay all transportation costs associated with the Programme, including:
- Sending the old product for inspection;
- Trackable or insured shipping;
- Delivery of the new product;
- Return delivery if the exchange is rejected; and
- Other agreed transportation expenses.
Free standard shipping does not apply to a Lifetime 50% Exchange transaction unless we expressly state otherwise.
19. Customer Courier Responsibility
Where the customer sends the old product by courier, the customer should:
- Receive instructions before dispatch;
- Use secure packaging;
- Use a trackable courier;
- Retain the receipt and tracking number;
- Include the requested invoice copy; and
- Send the parcel only to the confirmed address.
Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics is not responsible for an old product lost or damaged while being sent through a courier independently selected by the customer, except to the extent responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
20. How to Request an Exchange
A customer may begin an exchange request through:
Email: vikasgupta@bombayjewelleryhp.in
Phone/WhatsApp: +91 78278 00726
The request should include:
- Customer’s full name;
- Phone number;
- Invoice number;
- Readable invoice photograph or digital copy;
- Clear photographs of the old product;
- Product name;
- Product category;
- Approximate purchase date;
- Description of present condition; and
- Preferred new product, where selected.
Submitting a request does not automatically approve the exchange.
21. Preliminary Review
After receiving the request, we may:
- Confirm provisional eligibility;
- Request further information;
- Request additional photographs;
- Calculate an estimated exchange value;
- Provide shipping instructions;
- Invite the customer for store inspection; or
- Explain why the product appears ineligible.
Any exchange value communicated before physical inspection is provisional.
22. In-Store Exchange
Where available, the customer may bring the eligible product and invoice to:
Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics
1st Floor, Kamaksha Komplex, Cinema Chowk
Bhojpur, Sundernagar, Mandi
Himachal Pradesh – 175002
Customers should contact us before visiting to confirm business hours, inspection availability and new-product stock.
23. Courier-Based Exchange
For a courier-based exchange:
- Obtain instructions from us.
- Pack the old product securely.
- Include the invoice copy where requested.
- Use a trackable courier.
- Retain the tracking receipt.
- Do not include cash or unrelated valuables.
- Wait for inspection and final approval.
- Select the eligible new product.
- Pay the applicable balance and charges.
The customer should not dispatch the old product before receiving instructions.
24. Approval and New Purchase
After inspection, we will communicate:
- Eligibility decision;
- Approved exchange value;
- Any reduction and its reason;
- Available new products;
- Transportation charges;
- Tax and other applicable charges; and
- Balance payable.
The new product will be released or dispatched only after:
- The old product is accepted;
- The customer accepts the calculation;
- The new product is selected;
- Required payment is completed; and
- The new order is confirmed.
25. GST on the New Purchase
The new product is treated as a new sale and will be invoiced according to the applicable GST requirements at the time of purchase.
Taxes applicable to the new product are separate from the calculation of the old product’s exchange value.
The exchange adjustment and new transaction will be recorded on the invoice or supporting transaction document according to applicable tax and accounting requirements.
26. Guarantee and Return Rights
The Lifetime 50% Exchange Programme is separate from:
- The 48-hour Return, Exchange and Refund Policy;
- The Seven-Day Product Guarantee;
- The Cancellation Policy; and
- Mandatory consumer remedies.
An immediate damage, defect, missing-product or incorrect-product claim should be raised under the appropriate return or guarantee policy.
The Lifetime Exchange Programme does not convert normal wear or customer-caused damage into a guarantee claim.
27. Complimentary and Promotional Products
A complimentary gift, free product or product carrying no separately invoiced taxable value is not eligible unless its invoice expressly:
- Assigns it an eligible taxable value; and
- States that the Lifetime 50% Exchange benefit applies.
The benefit cannot be calculated using an assumed value for a free product.
28. Gift Purchases
A gift recipient may request an exchange if they possess:
- The original invoice; or
- A clear, readable photograph or digital copy.
We may contact the original purchaser or request additional verification where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud.
The exchange benefit cannot be separated from the product and sold as an independent coupon.
29. Meaning of “Lifetime”
For this Programme, “Lifetime” refers to the period during which:
- Bombay Jewellery and Cosmetics continues operating;
- The eligible product remains verifiable;
- The customer can provide the required invoice;
- The exchange benefit has not previously been used; and
- The Programme remains lawful and operational under its published terms.
It does not mean:
- The customer’s biological lifetime;
- Permanent product life;
- Permanent colour or plating;
- A lifetime warranty; or
- Guaranteed cash value.
Any prospective change will not unfairly affect an exchange that has already been physically accepted and approved.
30. Fraud and Misuse
We may reject an exchange request where there is reasonable evidence that:
- The invoice is fabricated or altered;
- A different product was submitted;
- Components were substituted;
- The product was intentionally damaged;
- Material information was concealed;
- The benefit was previously used;
- The product was unlawfully obtained; or
- The Programme is otherwise being misused.
We may retain reasonable records to prevent repeated or fraudulent claims.
31. Programme Changes
We may update or discontinue the Programme where reasonably necessary because of:
- Legal or regulatory changes;
- Tax changes;
- Fraud or misuse;
- Operational impracticability; or
- Business restructuring.
Any change will be published with an updated effective date and applied subject to applicable law.
This section will not be used to make a misleading promise or unfairly deny an exchange already accepted and approved.
32. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Policy excludes, limits or replaces a consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded under Indian law.
The Lifetime 50% Exchange Programme is an additional commercial benefit. It does not replace rights relating to a defective, incorrectly supplied or materially misdescribed product.
